WHY?We truly believe (based on evidence) that exercise is the best thing anyone can do for their health and we would like to help the under-served population of people with disabilities achieve their health-related goals.
We also strive to change society for the better. By using a workout partner system, this program is a great way to expose ASU students to persons with various disabilities which will help spread awareness, tolerance, and inclusion. |

WHAT?The workouts consist of evidence-based cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility training in order to improve health-related fitness of members. We use a workout partner system which has been successfully used in the past. ASU undergraduate students majoring in Kinesiology or Clinical Exercise Science, under the supervision of Dr. Holzapfel (aka. Simon), work on a one-on-one or a two-on-one basis with members to guide them through the exercises, to ensure safety, to provide motivation and social interaction, and to learn from our wonderful members. Aspects of fitness will be assessed before and after the semester-long program in order to track progress. The program consists of two workouts per week for the entire ASU academic semester.
This program is absolutely free of charge! |
