Simon D. Holzapfel, PhD, ACSM EP-C CIFTSimon is a Clinical Associate Professor in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University. He earned his Master's degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Kentucky University in 2013. While in Kentucky, Simon was a volunteer coach for the Kentucky Adapted Physical Education Program which provided physical education and exercise sessions to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities. Simon earned his PhD from Arizona State University in the spring of 2017. He was mentored by Dr. Shannon D. Ringenbach whose research agenda for people with Down syndrome spans more than 15 years. Simon has been conducting research studies on the effects of exercise in people with Down syndrome and people who had a stroke. He is the lead or co-author of numerous scientific publications. Dr. Holzapfel is a Certified Exercise Physiologist and a Certified Inclusive Fitness Trainer.
